Sam Houston Sign Voter Registration Cards – February 3, 2020

Students will learn about the “Rights and Responsibilities” of voting and complete a mock voter’s registration card.


Signs & Posters – February 4, 2020

Students and staff will create, design, and make voter signs for the Civil Rights March on February 7th. 


Voter Rally with Community Leader – Every Wednesday (8a.m. – 8:15a.m.)

“Voter Rallies” every Wednesday morning with Community Leaders as they discuss the importance of voting (Constable Bates, Mayor Thurman Bartie, & KBMT 12 Dejonique Garrison)


Civil Rights March on Sam Houston – February 7, 2020 (9a.m.)

All faculty and staff will participate in Civil Rights March with signs and posters.


Daddy Daughter Dance – February 13, 2020 (5:30p.m. – 7:30p.m.)

Daddy Daughter Dance after school in the gym hosted by the Black History Committee.


Family Movie Night – February 20, 2020 (5:30p.m. – 7:30p.m.)

Movie night will be hosted by the Black History Committee.


African-American Author’s Day – February 21, 2020

Community Leaders will read books or poems by African-American Authors from 9a.m. – 1p.m.


Black History Luncheon – February 27, 2020

April Green Catering will host our Annual Black History Luncheon for all faculty and staff.


Black History Program – February 28, 2020

The students of Sam Houston Elementary will host a Black History Program where each grade level will represent the theme at 9 a.m.
