Houston Elem Gets a Weather Station

Teacher Cindy Trahan was prompted to get a Weather Station for Sam Houston when she saw Greg Bostwick give his regular weather cast using a station at Hillcrest Elementary in Nederland. The last weather station in Port Arthur was initiated by Rita Leger, Science Curriculum Supervisor, as Franklin Elementary, which has since been demolished. Since PAISD was no longer represented, she thought they should add one at Sam Houston.

Many of Houston's own faculty, staff, and even cafeteria workers donated money on the website, in addition to friends and family in the community as well as teachers and donors living states away. The project was funded, the money sent to KFDM, and Greg Bostwick and his engineer, Todd (pictured above) arrived and set up the station with the help of PAISD maintenance crew, teachers and administrators. We can access the weather to the Houston station using the KFDM WeatherNet mobile app as well as the Weather Net Station Console on campus. Greg Bostwick will also feature Houston's station from time to time on his broadcasts.
